About the Contest

Applicants are asked to submit their abstracts on any of the space safety topics listed below. Authors must submit the abstract following the guidelines described in the website, click here, by December 14th, 2012. In addition, abstracts to enter into the IAASS-SGAC competition are to be sent to IAASS Young Professionals Chair, Dr. M. Trujillo (maite.trujillo@iaass.org) and NPoC for Mexico / IAASS Conference Awareness Lead, Carmen Felix (Carmen.felix@spacegeneration.org) accompanied by a brief biography of the primary author and a recent photo. Only the primary author will be considered for the scholarship.

For the entries into IAASS-SGAC competition, full papers are to be submitted by 10th February. Then, a review panel will provide the results of the competition outcome by 15th February, winners will be informed soon after this date. Full papers are to follow the instructions captured into the conference website. Those who have not submitted their full papers by the deadline will not be considered for the competition. Notification of abstract acceptance by conference review committee is not in any way, an indication of award result. The authors of accepted abstracts but not presented in the conference will be penalized for future competitions, therefore, if you are not able to present the abstract during the conference, please, inform the conference organizing committee accordingly.

 

About the Prize / Scholarship

There will be three (3) scholarships awarded to the best technical submissions to attend the 6th International IAASS Space Safety Conference “Safety is not an Option” that will be held from 21 – 23rd May, 2013 in Montreal, Canada. Each of the scholarships will include free registration at the conference and gala dinner, travel expenses and accommodation (up to $1500 – justified expenses). The paper selection criteria are technical merit, accuracy, quality and relevance to conference topics. Papers have to be the result of authors’ research and shall not have already been presented or published at any other conference/proceedings. The award / scholarship will be given after conference attendance based on justified expenses (i.e.: receipts) and cost economizing travel choices. Further questions related to award can be addressed to the points of contact of the competition (i.e.: Dr. M. Trujillo and C. Felix).

Winners will be selected to present their work in an oral presentation or poster at the conference. After the conference, winners will be requested to write a small article for SGAC and IAASS newsletters about their experience.
